I am unsure how I can rant about this book without giving spoilers, but I will try my best.

Did I like the book? No
Did I DNF it? Absolutely not.

Comically, it gave me immense pleasure in turning every page and rolling my eyes at all the bits and pieces that made me question why am I still reading the book.

Ashleigh Lowen and Verity Crawford, the two women whom the story revolves around are polar opposites professionally.

Ashleigh is almost bankrupt, having spent all the money on taking care of her mother who recently passed away. Verity, on the other hand, is a celebrated author. All her books are bestsellers and tell the story from the villain’s perspective which makes her stories stand out.

Ashleigh is living on hope and one fine day her tables turn and unicorns fart rainbows when Verity’s husband Jeremy offers her a deal that struggling authors would drool over.
It goes downhill from the moment Ashleigh enters the Crawford house. A bedridden Verity is not limited to her bed. From her manuscripts and workroom to the nurse who takes care of her, Ashleigh feels her presence everywhere. To the point that it is borderline paranoia.

The book sometimes gave me a ‘Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier’ feel. Except it just fell short on the wow factor.
